Travel Medicine Consultations and Vaccinations

Unlike most travel vaccine clinics, Dr. Klapowitz meets with you personally to review your medical history and travel plans, administer vaccinations (including Yellow Fever vaccine) and prescribe travel medications (malaria, diarrhea, altitude, and others). Each visit is personalized, regardless of the complexity of your itinerary or your health status. We see travelers age 10 and over. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian

Pre-Travel Physicals

(age 18+ only) This is an in-depth medical examination from Dr. Klapowitz. Blood draws, EKG’s, lung function testing, and urine analysis can all be performed in-office. Rapid referrals to top specialists are provided as needed. We charge $395.00. EKG’s, breathing tests (spirometry), venipuncture, urine testing is additional.

VISIT FEES:

Your entire visit is with Dr. Klapowitz in our new, private midtown office. Dr. Klapowitz will spend whatever time is necessary with you to determine your vaccination needs, your medical needs (if any), and provide useful travel medical advice.

• We charge $275.00 for a consultation.
• Consultations are required for vaccinations administered for travel purposes (such as Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Japanese Encephalitis, and Tick-Borne Encephalitis). Visits for Rabies vaccinations alone do not require a consultation.
• Vaccine fees range from Polio ($125) to Yellow Fever ($255) to Rabies ($495 each shot). All shots are given during your visit. For a complete list of fees, see: VACCINATION SCHEDULES and FEES.
• All first appointments to our office require a $75.00 non-refundable booking fee. This fee goes towards your bill at the end of your visit.
• We are non-par with insurance (insurance often does not cover travel-related medical advice and vaccinations even when you are seen in an “in-network” clinic).
• After your visit with us, we will submit your claim to your insurance company for you.
• We participate with Medicare part “B” and will submit vaccination bills to Medicare for injections Medicare covers (ie influenza and pneumonia shots). Medicare “B” does not cover travel consultations or most travel-related vaccinations.
